Iranian female shooter finishes 8th in Rio 2016

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 12 (MNA) – Najmeh Khedmati of Iran, who had reached final round of women's 50m rifle 3 positions in Rio, failed to clinch medals after ranking 8th overall.

On Thursday, Khedmati secured a final position by standing in 6th place in a pool of 37 shooters from 27 countries with 583 points.

Competing in the final round against seven other shooters, the Iranian athlete bagged 402.3 points to end up in the eighth place.

Barbara Engleder of Germany scooped the gold medal in the same event with 458.6 points followed by China’s Binbin Zhang and Du Li who stood on silver and bronze podiums with 458.4 and 447.4 points, respectively.

Attracting a sum of 10,444 athletes from 206 countries, the 31st Olympic Games officially started in Rio, Brazil, on August 6.
